I’m Raymond Drause — a historian, writer, and editor with more than a decade of experience in academic research, analysis, teaching, and writing.
I’ve spent my career exploring history, politics, and the cultural forces that shape them. I hold a Ph.D. in History, with specializations in Russian and Soviet, Central Asian, and Chinese History; an M.A. in Middle Eastern and European History; and a B.A. in Economics.
My research has taken me to archives and libraries across Eurasia, and my writing has examined topics ranging from imperial governance to recent developments in the region. Alongside teaching, I’ve gained experience working with open-source materials and applying historical analysis to contemporary global trends.
I help scholars, students, and organizations communicate ideas with clarity, precision, and credibility. Whether through polished prose, thoughtful insight, or careful research, I bring a strong analytical background and a sharp editorial eye to every project.
I am currently based in Helsinki, Finland, and available for both remote and on-site opportunities. I welcome collaborations with think tanks, consulting firms, research institutions, educational organizations, and others seeking historical depth, clarity of expression, and cross-regional expertise.
Great ideas deserve clear expression — and I’m here to help make that happen.
